Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT)
ACATs are teams of health professionals who conduct assessments of older people to assist them in gaining access to the types of services most appropriate to their needs.
Ageing in place
Ageing in place refers to the ability to live in one’s own home – wherever that might be – for as long as possible. In aged care homes, this means receiving low level or high level care in the same place of residence which means you don’t need to move as a result of changing care needs.
Centrelink and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) carry out income and asset assessments to determine if you qualify for assistance with your aged care accommodation costs. This assessment will also help you work out the amount you may be asked to pay towards your accommodation costs for permanent residential aged care.
Dementia specific care
Dementia is the term used to describe the symptoms of a large group of illnesses which cause a progressive decline in the ability to remember, think and learn. We provide dementia specific care through Orana Gardens Special Care. As well as providing accommodation services such as meals, laundry, cleaning and personal care as required, our staff are trained in understanding you or your loved one’s dementia specific needs.
Residential aged care
Residential Aged Care is for older people who can no longer live at home and refers to the personal care and/or nursing care provided to these people to facilitate independence, good health and wellbeing. The Orana Gardens Aged Care Facility is based in Dubbo.
A retirement village is a housing development designed specifically to suit the accommodation, social and recreational wants and needs of the over 55s. Orana Gardens Retirement Village offers you independent living and complete privacy if you choose, security that delivers peace of mind, services that make life easier and social activities to enrich your quality of life.
